The underlying principle of this proposal is that by casting parts of the museum and putting them on display, the museum itself becomes an artefact. Previously ignored and unrelatable parts of the building become memorialised artefacts that the public can interact with. Connecting the building to the people on a perceivable human scale would be manifest by the creation of spaces that appear as fragmented componentised pieces of the museum itself. Allowing the grand oversized Grade II fabric of the enclosing buildings of the museum courtyard, to be celebrated and revered rather than overlooked and unnoticed.
